The Population Action Council extended the mission of the Population Institute (est. 1969) to support family planning and reproductive healthcare internationally. At the time of this brochure, world population was projected to reach 7 to 11 billion by 2020. World population has doubled since the first Earth Day, reaching 7.7 billion in 2019.
This report accompanied a letter to form an advisory Committee to the Draper/Population Crisis. The Center for Population and Family Health (CPFH), led by Allan Rosenfield, participated in the initial committee.
