(Harvard, '95AB) Noted criminologist and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California since 1930, died in Boston of pneumonia contracted following an operation. He had gone to Boston early in November to be treated for calcemia. Dr. Adler was 59 years old. While State criminologist of Illinois he figured prominently in the Loeb-Leopold trial. He was the man who perfected the "lie detector," Served in World War I as a major in the Medical Corps of the United States Army.
