Memo:
Professor and chairman of otolaryngology and director of the otolaryngology service of Presbyterian Hospital. He was in Hawaii to be inducted as an officer of the American Otologic Society. A native of New York, he received his bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University in 1957 and his M.D. degree from Albany Medical College in 1961. He had been chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology since 1977. His career was marked by extensive research in diseases of the middle ear and by a rich bibliography of more than 80 articles and chapters. He served on the board of the Deafness Research Foundation and the Communicative Disorders Review Committee of the National Institutes of Health. He had been president of the Society of University Otolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons and the Association for Research in Otolaryngology. A member of the American Otologic Society, he also was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Abramson served on the editorial boards of many scientific journals.
