History and Biography
Chartered in 1892, the New York Dental School opened in Oct. 1893 and in a few years was settled in quarters on West 42nd Street. It changed its name to the College of Dental and Oral Surgery of New York (CODOS) in 1905 and in 1913 moved to modern buildings at 302-306 East 35th Street. On July 1, 1923, the College merged with the Columbia University School of Dentistry which was renamed the School of Dental and Oral Surgery to reflect the union of the two schools.
