Abstract:

Student notebooks of Jones who attended the Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University School of Nursing (currently the Columbia University School of Nursing), 1957-1960. There are notebooks on most of the subjects covered in the curriculum as well as some syllabi.

Historical/Biographical Note:

Patricia Jones, nurse and nursing educator, received a B.A. from Barnard College (1957), a B.S. in nursing from the Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University School of Nursing (now the Columbia University School of Nursing) in 1960, and a M.A. in education from Teachers College (1976).  She worked as a nurse in University Hospital, Cleveland, and St. Luke’s Hospital, New York City, as well as being director of the professional seminars division of the American Journal of Nursing Company.

Scope and Content:

Student notebooks of Patricia Jones (BS, Nursing, 1960) who attended the Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University School of Nursing (currently the Columbia University School of Nursing), 1957-1960.  There are notebooks and syllabi on most of the subjects covered in the curriculum as well as bibliographies, case studies, class schedules, handouts, and forms. The papers also include Jones’ teaching plan for a course she taught to nursing aides in 1961.
