Abstract:

Notebook of medical miscellanea kept by Lowell Walter Gurnsey in the 1820s and 1830s when he was probably living in Orwell, Vt. It includes a list of the bones of the human body; notes on chemistry; extensive information on specific diseases and their remedies; lists of drugs and their properties; and much other miscellaneous medical and scientific information. No patient information is included.

The volume is signed and dated in several places by Gurnsey, usually in 1822 though as late as 1839 in one instance. In addition, the notation "Orwell, Vt." appears throughout the volume.
