Photocopy of transcripts of letters written by Aileen I. Hogan, a 1940 graduate of the Columbia University School of Nursing, while serving in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a member of the Second General Hospital (Presbyterian Hospital, New York). The volume is illustrated with copies of photographs, newspaper clippings, flyers, maps, programs, and bank notes. The letters were edited by Ruth M. Lee.
History and Biography
The 2nd General Hospital reached England in July 1942 and was stationed at Oxford, with a detachment in Northern Ireland. The unit arrived in France in late July 1944 and was based at Lison, Normandy, July-November, 1944 and then at Nancy where they remained until August 1945.
