Much of the material documents her work with AIDS policy and her time at the Columbia University School of Nursing.

Historical/Biographical Note:

Nurse, public health official, and educator. Gebbie was a member of the President's Commission on the HIV Epidemic during the Reagan administration and first AIDS Policy Coordinator ("AIDS Czar") in 1993-94 under Clinton. She was a professor at the Columbia University School of Nursing and director of its Center for Health Policy (1995-2008) and later served as the Dean of the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing.
