Abstract:
Photocopied transcripts of letters written by Wilma Stevens Hawkins, a 1933 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing (now the Columbia University School of Nursing), to family members while employed as a nurse at the American University Hospital in Beirut, 1934-1939. Hawkins also taught nursing at the university.
Besides describing her work in the hospital and nursing school, Hawkins wrote of her frequent trips throughout Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Palestine.
