The collection documents Harter's efforts to have Columbia University memorialize Jesse W. Lazear's and Aristides Agramonte's work on the U.S. Yellow Fever Commission in Cuba after the Spanish-American War. Both were graduates of Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons (P&S). Harter's work led to the dedication of a plaque in their memory at P&S in 1972. Included are Harter's correspondence with University administrators; a dedication ceremony program; and photocopies of scientific articles written by Lazear, Agramonte and other members of the Yellow Fever Commission.
In addition, there are letters from P&S alumni reminiscing about Robert Loeb, chairman of the department of medicine at P&S and the Presbyterian Hospital, 1947-1960, and a few photographs of P&S professors.
