Abstract:

The notebook (originally kept in a binder) is a collection of mimeographed lecture notes on a wide range of skin diseases delivered by about 25 different dermatologists. Some case reports are included.

Historical/Biographical Note:

Carl T. Nelson was chairman of the Columbia University Department of Dermatology from 1951 to 1973. He obtained his medical degree from Harvard in 1941 and became a member of the Columbia University faculty in 1946. He retired in 1973 and was named an emeritus professor the same year. Nelson died in New York City on March 16, 1978.

There is no indication of what the context was for these lectures; internal evidence suggests they date from the late 1940s to the early 1950s.
