Memo:
Died at his home, 28 Stevens Street, Astoria, Long Island. Dr. Andersen was born in New York City, December 11, 1867, the son of Christian Andersen who was born in Denmark and whose name is so familiar to all readers of fairy tales the world over, and Julia von Mueller Andersen, born in Berlin, Germany. He served as intern in the State Hospital at Noroton, Connecticut, and finally settled in Astoria in 1892 where he remained in general practice for the remainder of his life. Dr. Andersen was active in many ways. He was surgeon to the Astoria Hospital, was an assistant to Dr. Bodine in the Polyclinic Hospital in New York City, and later did work with Professor Caillee at the Post Graduate Hospital. At the outbreak of the war, he was appointed First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps and was assigned for active duty at Camp Yaphank, Long Island, and later at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Camp Upton New York. He was honorably discharged from the service at Camp Upton December 11, 1918. For a year thereafter he served in the Public Health Service of New York and then resumed private practice. In addition to his medical activities, Dr. Andersen was well known in the fraternal societies of Queens. At the reunions which the Class of 1890 has held every five years since their graduation, Dr. Andersen was always present and even at the 35 year anniversary dinner, although ill, he was one of the forty members of the class present on that occasion. His interest in his class and in his Alma Mater was outstanding. (CAN 29) 28 Stevens St. Long Island City, N.Y. (CAT 1916)
