Associate professor and former acting chairman of otolaryngology at Northwestern University, Dr. Allen served as a former president of the Chicago Laryngological and Otological Society. In 1988 he received the Commissioner's Special Citation of the Food and Drug Administration. His father, the late Henry Dawson Allen P&S1918, was for a long time the oldest living P&S graduate. His uncle, Theophilus Powell Allen, graduated from P&S in 1922.
