General practitioner and gynecologist in active practice for 60 years and "Doctor of the Year" in New York County for 1958, died in New York City at age 84. When on call in the Bronx Dr. Alexander saw the flames of the burning excursion boat, General Slocum, commandeered a row boat and for hours brought survivors ashore and rendered first aid.
