Died in New York City. Assistant Attending Physician at the Memorial Hospital Center for Cancer and Allied Diseases, who became known while a student at Columbia for his original contributions in biochemistry. Dr. C.P. Rhodes, Director of the Center, said that the death of Dr. Abels, who was thirty-three years of age, was "an irrevocable blow to the progress of cancer research."
