Abstract

Notes, 1850-1851, of an unknown medical student on the "institutes of medicine" (physiology) lectures given by a Dr. Jackson, probably Samuel Jackson (1787-1872). Jackson was professor of the institutes of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania medical school at this time.

This notebook was purchased with a manuscript formulary as a set for the Hyman Collection in the History of Anesthesiology. However, though both notebooks originate in Philadelphia and date from the same time, it is not clear if both were produced by the same person; the handwriting does not appear similar.
