When the COVID-19 pandemic dominated much of the world in 2020, cultural heritage institutions actively began documenting this experience. This included Columbia University. In May 2020, Archives and Special Collections (A&SC) in the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library submitted a call for personal stories and digital recordings to help document the experience in the CUIMC community. This has resulted in over 50 submissions and almost 3 GB of photos, videos, artwork, and writings. Thanks to all who contributed!

While the portal is now closed, as we enter the fall of 2021, the pandemic is still not over. If you wish to contribute your story and materials that help document the experience of individuals and that of the CUIMC community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Sciences A&SC continues to gladly accept donations. As stewards of these materials, we are committed to the long-term preservation and access to your unique materials of historic value. You have the power to represent yourself and/or your community in the historical record.
